Emma & Rob – Barn Wedding

MAY 2019 | THE COTSWOLDS

Emma & Rob planned a beautifully rustic, barn wedding in the heart of The Cotswolds at Mickleton Hills Farms Barns. We created their bespoke wedding menu starting with a blank piece of paper. As so often happens the first dish we discussed was dessert and Emma’s favourite Hokey Pokey Ice Cream from a trip they had in New Zealand. From there we crafted an informal sharing three course menu and evening food and it was perfect for the venue and setting.

We started with the theme of the day

When we chatted to Emma & Rob about their ideas and plans for their wedding day they had a clear idea of how they wanted to bring the rustic, informal feel of their venue into their menu.

We wanted to create a menu that was relaxed, family style sharing food and include some of their favourite ingredients and dishes for their family and friends to enjoy.

The wedding breakfast set up was to be long trestle tables down either side of the barn and having food that could be passed around and enjoyed was an important aspect.

Sharing, family style foods

Taking the idea of rustic, informal sharing food for the canape reception and wedding breakfast we served some delicious charcuterie boards for the starter course.

Served on long wooden Yew tree boards with cold meats such as Parma Ham, Mortadella & Salami along with Pickles, Olives, Stuffed Peppers and Artisan Breads.

The main course was similar with carved Beef served on wooden boards for guests to help themselves and tuck in to delicious side bowls of salads and seasonal vegetables.

Taking a dessert from their travels

Emma & Rob had visited New Zealand and were introduced to Hokey Pokey Ice Cream which they really wanted to include as part of their wedding breakfast.

Essentially we made Honeycomb and ran it through creamy Vanilla Ice Cream and served with a Chocolate Delice and extra Honeycomb on top!

On the day

Emma & Rob had their wedding day and celebrations at Mickleton Hills Farm Barns which is a beautiful wedding venue in the Cotswolds and a venue where we are one of their preferred suppliers.

Owners of Mickleton Sammy & David are incredible hosts and their team are a pleasure to work with to make the whole wedding day come together perfectly.

Then Amy Rose was the photographer who brought the whole day to life and captured some beautiful photos of Emma & Rob’s special day.
