Ronald McDonald – Charity Event

NOVEMBER 2020 | BIRMINGHAM

Ronald McDonald House is a charity that supports families whose children are in hospital and provide accommodation and rest-bite space. They are supported by McDonald’s restaurants and based in Birmingham. The events team were organising a special Patrons event with the 1966 World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst MBE and wanted to serve their guests food and drink throughout the event.

Creating a celebrity charity event

Working with Ronald McDonald Homes, we discussed their plans and ideas and how they would like their event to work.  We visited their venue space and met with the team to talk through how we could prepare a lunch for 40 guests while listening to speeches on the day.

We decided to create a chef’s table with a selection of foods and drink that people can help themselves to in a relaxed and informal way that helped with networking.  It also allowed for any guests arriving and leaving at various times and worked well in their event space.

Preparing a chef's table

Our chefs put together a great selection of food and ingredients and we talked with the events team about their guests and what they might like.

Our hosts welcomed guests on arrival with drinks and then escorted them to the chefs table talking through the variety of food on offer.  We would then replenish and keep the table clean and tidy so it looked as appetising an hour into the event as it did at the start.

Made with fresh ingredients

Our chefs prepared the menu fresh in our production kitchen and then we finished everything at the venue kitchens.  Our chefs crafted a variety of dishes using fresh ingredients and making delicious warm sausage rolls, pork pies and quiches.

We knew we wanted to create a menu of finger foods, that were easy to grab, move around the room and come back and graze at leisure, so we prepared sandwiches, picnic items, salads and of course ended with a delicious treat of chocolate brownie served with coffee and tea at the end.

On the day

We worked with the team at Ronald McDonald House in the build up to the event and on the day.  We welcomed their VIP guest Sir Geoff Hurst MBE and we ensured that all of their guests had a drink, something to eat and understood what was happening at the event.

We also worked with the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce who were co-hosting the event to support with publicity and awareness of the charity and great work that they do.
